Ice Dyeing for Stargazer: The first of (probably) many

I’m trying to find the PERFECT fabric to stitch my Stargazer on. I know I want opalescent, and I know I want something that looks like the night sky. I’ve gone through every online fabric shop I know of, twice, and I just can’t commit to buying anything. So this is the beginning of my journey to try and make it myself (D’artagnan helped).

This version was a layer of blues (ocean, navy and teal) with some pearl grey, and black powder & liquid on top. It really did turn out gorgeous! Just not quite right for my Stargazer. I have a feeling it was the black powder that ended up being so pink (strange that blues and black turned into pink and purple!), but I don’t know for sure.

I’ve got attempt #2 dyeing as I write this!

  1. That was an awesome video! And I think the fabric turned out gorgeous!! Love it! I have Stargazer in my stash to stitch someday. For now I will enjoy watching others stitch her. The conversion you chose is a gorgeous one. I hope that you can come up with a fabric that is perfect for you. I look forward to seeing it.

    1. Glad you liked it! I’m SO excited to start on that Stargazer conversion. I ended up buying a custom fabric from Under the Sea, but I’ll have to wait until I see it to know for sure if it’s “the one”. Fingers crossed!
